Last week I posted about the Fedrigoni Made In Italy exhibition, but earlier in the evening that Thursday Soofiya, Sherida, Sara and I had been to another event. TWO EVENTS IN ONE NIGHT? I know, I didn’t think it could be done either but we did it! We couldn’t miss the launch of the latest People of Print magazine; Element 003 and the People of Print book. (P.S. keep reading to the bottom for something cool)
Hosted within the London Graphic Centre in Covent Garden, we were surrounded by the tools of creativity, beers and cool people:
Great labels, great beer – thanks Brixton Brewery!
So firstly the launch of Element 003 which I briefly posted about a while back in April after seeing PoP founder Marcroy talk at Printout: The Print Special. This issue of Element allows for personalised messages to be printed on every cover using special HP indigo ink technology. Whatever message you want (within reason) can be printed onto black stock with white ink. Above is typographer James Lunn, live-setting Soof’s message… can anyone guess what she went for?
Also launching on the same night; the People of Print Book!
The book is a celebration of almost 50 of the hottest creatives currently committed to the tactility, materiality, and visible craft of print. AND it features these lovely dogs – what’s not to love!?
Amongst the cover designing and beer drinking there was also a mini letterpress workshop and t-shirt screen printing. The girls & I had to make a decision between the two, so we went with…
… the T-shirts. After queueing for about 30 mins it was our turn to choose 1 of 3 designs, and all for free btw – thanks PoP! I opted for the Scroll design by Eike Konig, which is also one of the magazine cover options and seemed to be the most popular T-shirt on the night.
Just before we left there was time for a cheesy photo of us all with our screen printed T-shirts;
Gutted you missed this event? Wish you had bagged yourself a T-shirt too? Well… you could still get your hands on one because I’ve got one to giveaway:
It’s the same Scroll design by Eike Konig as mine and is a size Large so it will fit anyone! It’s a standard T-shirt shape, but I just rolled the sleeves up and tucked it into my high waisted jeans. Just to clarify, the awkward pose is not included 🙂
Open to UK residents only, sorry guys! Enter to win here:
The giveaway ends on Wednesday 24th June 2015 at midnight and you have up to 4 chances of winning so good luck and keep your fingers crossed! I’ll announce the winner via twitter so keep an eye out. In the meantime, get yourselves a copy of the magazine or book and support traditional print; Print Isn’t Dead!
