As a Boxing Day baby I’ve always found it quite hard to enjoy Christmas. I know, 98% of you will be thinking ‘WHAT!? Everyone loves Christmas!’, but when tinsel and turkey has always overshadowed my special day can you blame me? I’ve basically been the Grinch for 25 years now – BAH HUMBUG.
Anyway, now that I’m older I hold less of a grudge against Jesus’ birthday. This year I’ve found myself feeling uncharacteristically festive and it’s not even December – what has happened to me!? I’ll ‘fess up now; I’ve enjoyed a Gingerbread Latter in a red cup, I’ve started my Christmas shopping, I’ve decorated a Christmas tree, I’ve hummed Jingle Bells AND I’ve taken part in a blogger Secret Santa with George (Asda).
In my experience Secret Santa is light hearted fun which usually results in a mixture of thoughtful and novelty gifts. But there wasn’t a plastic dog poo or elephant trunk thong in sight (I hope) – George have lots of amazing gifts to choose from. After a bit of blog and Instagram stalking, I spent about an hour picking what I wanted to send and then the lovely Elves packed and sent them for me. It’s the easiest Christmas shopping I’ll probably ever do!
With the shopping over, all I had to do was await the delivery of my secret santa gifts – I hoped I’d made it onto Santa’s good list this year… and I think I did:
What a lovely selection of gifts, including a candle, photo frame, cushions, slippers, chalkboard and baubles. I’ve been looking to buy some cushions for my bed for a little while now, and these are the perfect additions. I love the cool geometric design cushion with the pop of bright green and the monochromatic N cushion an obvious winner for a Graphic Designer! (Although… I’ve photographed it upside-down here, oops! -10 typography points for me!)
This Baylis & Harding triple wick candle in Midnight fig and Pomegranate smells just amazing and the baubles are a monochrome dream – I LOVE monochrome.
The ‘contemporary’ (although I think it looks kind of vintagey?) photoframe is so delicate and the perfect place to house some triangles. Continuing the vintage vibes with this cute chalkboard, which as I didn’t have any chalk handy I placed a Byron playing card on to show the scale:
But I saved the best until last, because my favourite pick is these mice slipper boots:
OH MY – THEY’RE SO CUTE! You know that feeling you get when an animal is so cute that you want to squeeze them really tightly? Well I had that, and I haven’t taken them off since I unwrapped them! And they match my current bedding – it was meant to be if you ask me.
Thanks so much to my Secret Santa, the elves and of course to George for having a great Christmas gift range. It’s been lovely watching all of the other blogger’s posts go live and seeing what they received, and especially to see that the blogger I chose for liked her gifts. Are you taking part in Secret Santa this year? What did you think to my gifts? What would you have chosen for me? Let me know 🙂
