What’s in the window? Me! Well I’m not anymore, but I was in the window today creating a display for the auction. The Auction 13 team have been given permission to use TPH’s window to display our lovely postcards, so we set to work:            We’ve displayed the postcards that we’ve received so far on a bookcase. To create some suspense and excitement, we’ve  created a guessing game by placing tags...

This is so exciting and crazy, I almost didn’t believe it at first! I am a now published designer! My work in featured in a BOOK! Yes, a real life, printed, published, dispersed around the world, book! Packaging Structures features my Kombucha health drink packaging from back when I was at college! It’s just madness! Back in July I uploaded the project to my Behance profile and within 2 hours I had received an email from...

It is really weird to think that last year this post was about MY college exhibition – it all feels so long ago! Friday evening Dani, Bobbins and I went back to the college to check out the ‘first years’ work. Well they’re technically second years but will always be the first years to us 🙂 We had seen some of the work coming together when we visited the other week, so it was really...

Today I made a trip back to my old college with Dani and Bobbins. It was lovely to have a catch up with my old tutor and the current second years and show some of my work, but weird too. The college holds a lot of memories….laughter, fun, inspiration, challenges, hard work, stress and as I have said many times before… it made me the designer I am today (although I hope I’ve improved a bit...

D day by name…. D day by grades! Ahhhhhhhh I have waited for this day for 2 years now – Final grade for BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design – DDD! I am so pleased/happy that all my effort has paid off! I have thoroughly enjoyed the past 2 years, and am so glad I put off uni for this course – I have improved and learnt so much I can’t believe I thought I...

FMP! FMP! FMP! Final Major Project was the last project of my BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design course, and took place over 8 weeks. For the project we had to write our own brief; deciding on a theme, final outcomes and an essay topic. I chose to undertake designing and organising a Graphic Design festival, complete with exhibitions, speakers, workshops and an awards ceremony. I decided my final outcomes would be 5 posters – 1 poster...

Thursday 17th June at 7.15pm the College of West Anglia 2010 Art & Design exhibition was declared open! This week has been so hectic. I’ve been painting the exhibition space… … I’ve been panicking about filling my exhibition boards…. …. and I’ve been happy to pose infront of the finished work at the exhibition night!  This week has been tiring and a lot of hard work, but has been rewarding, and not only because I got to see all...

Graphics Student of The Year 2010. And the award goes to…. Me 🙂 The award even has my name on it! The first of many…. a girl can dream! Haha What an evening! There was a posh ceremony with tables of students, tutors and friends and family. Balloons, lights and wines on the tables. A mini buffet with mini cornish pasties, sausages on sticks, spring rolls…. and mini cottage pies!? Haha! It was a good...

The last part of the multidisciplinary project – finally! I chose to do some stamps because they are important in travel and leisure I kept with the gambling/seaside theme and created a fruit machine inspired design from lino Here is the first of the series – 3 pairs (unusual as usually 2 is a pair!) I was glad to get to do some more linocutting before the end of the year – as I have said before, I...

It’s been a whole month today since I posted – oh how I have missed blogging! (Not really… I’ve been doing my FMP journal online everyday, but it’s still not the same – I can’t really ramble on like I can here!) I thought I would put you out of your misery, as my last post asked a question: ‘What can you make with….. …A Morrison’s Value mixing bowl A metre of green ribbon An...

Here’s a question for you: What can you make with….. …A Morrison’s Value mixing bowl A metre of green ribbon An A1 sheet of green card An A4 sheet of red paper A black polystyrene pizza packaging tray A metre of white cotton material and A Poundland Solar Panel Garden Post Light? (which I got I.D.ed for because apparently it could be used as a weapon so you need to be 21 to buy it – so...

So the last time I posted about this was…. February. I was developing some kind of promotional item and was thinking of doing an air freshner for a car Above, is an existing air freshner that I had in my car (haven’t actually used it until now though!). I wanted to use this as a basis for the size of my air freshner, so I tried to take pictures from roughly the same angle to make comparison easier later on…  ...

Carrying on from part 1… I am thinking about some Graphic representations of gamblings sayings ‘Cheap thrills, only 2p’ or some old fashioned fairground cries… ‘Roll up, Roll up’, ‘Prize everytime’ That crazy, colourful, word art style typography which reminds me of the fair, the circus and the seaside all rolled into one… That last picture of the carousel – It’s so hideous and hard to read!! Euk! But it is typical typography of a fairground ride!...
