After a lovely Valentines weekend at home in the Fens, I headed back to London with a bunch of gorgeous roses and a smile: Just when I thought I had sussed most of the area around the studio out, I stumble across a secret garden in the middle of the city: I bet this is amazing in the summer, especially for a few cocktails after work! Southwark, the tube closest to the studio, gets brownie...

Small town girl in the big city – sounding a bit like a song here, cringe! My first week as a ‘Londoner’ has been pretty great. I’ve been a bit snap happy and I thought I would share some of the photos with you guys. So what have I been up to for the past 168 hours? I learnt about 3D Printing at the Science Museum: I saw some 3D printing in action at Selfridge’s...

Just a quick note… I can’t believe it – this is my 500th post, WOW! Thank you for reading my rambling words and if you’ve read all 500 posts, there’s a special prize for you – a virtual handshake/pat on the back 🙂 Back in June, you might remember that I purchased my first Lomo camera – Lady P. As a newbie to analogue, I wanted to experiment before ‘having all the gear and no...

Seeing the flyers popping up everywhere I went was weird but it meant the word was getting around about the festival. After a couple of months hearing about the plans and designing the bits and bobs, it was finally here – Frequency 2013. Also, there was a familiar face added to the Frequency team… …Emma was back doing what she does best – managing/ organising/ bossing people around as a Festival Assistant. And I did...

The other week, Emma & I went on an adventure ‘up North’ to Manchester. Primarily we went for an interview but also enjoyed exploring the city and a spot of shopping. We popped into Urban Outfitters and Emma spotted a Lomo camera in the sale section (quite a rarity). She wouldn’t let me leave without buying it… so I had to really: Meet Lady P. She’s a pink fisheye lomography camera! I asked twitter for...

If you follow me on twitter you might have noticed that I’ve become a total hipster and jumped on the instagram bandwagon. I’ve joined the 21st century and have ‘swapped’ my blackberry for an apple (hence the post title).                I’ve had my iphone for about 3 weeks now and I love it. It’s been a busy few weeks  – I’ve been exploring Lincoln, Sheffield, Manchester and London and instagramming anything...

So I’m working on a new brief now – an open brief (queue dramatic music)!  Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis is an interesting tale where Gregor, a hardworking travelling salesman, wakes up as a giant bug! The story is full of themes and underlying meanings, and we have been tasked with using the text and/or what it symbolises to create something. I get the feeling I’m being watched… …and I’ll explain more soon!

After a lot of planning, this morning it was finally time to do the photo shoot for the group project. I don’t think I’ve really mentioned about the latest project – it’s a group magazine project with the theme being ’21st century’. My group is Amber, Emma, Lucy, Sunjay, Tom and myself – with our magazine being called Divide. The brief requires us 13 pages each individually, as well as a front cover and a...

For the past 6 weeks I have engrossed myself in re-branding Avon, a company selling cosmetics and beauty products to women since 1886. From research, I established that bad connotations were associated with Avon. ‘Out of date’, ‘cheap’, ‘for old ladies’ and ‘naff christmas presents’ were all popular responses I received when asking for opinions. After analysing the brand as a whole I felt that the main problems with Avon were: I felt that the...

I am sooooo keen on the latest Visual Expression project to make a zine – my fave project so far! For those of you who don’t know what a zine is, it’s a handmade, mini magazine which has a small print run of usually 500 or less.  They are usually quirky, controversial and very experimental so the complete opposite to the Magazine project (for which I received some quite good feedback in a critique on...

Since Wednesday I had been hearing about places around England which had snow and wondering if/when Lincoln would get frosted. It was 12.27am yesterday when I looked out of the window and it had snowed! This is crazy! Snow in November? It was too exciting to miss so I just HAD to go outside with my flatmate and her boyfriend. Later in the afternoon I made the risky trek up Steep Hill to the Cathedral...

After talking to Tim last week, I decided that I wanted to reshoot my images. I wanted something that I could find a lot of, could shoot in the same style and that was different to what everyone else was doing. I came up with 2 ideas: Road surface text and Yellow signs. I decided to take Aled out on our weekly Cafe Nero sketching trip Tuesday and go with both ideas, which I could...
