…. you can pick all of the pieces that you want, but you never know how it’s going to turn out! The other week Laura from Cardboard Cities asked twitter for collage ‘volunteers’. Sometimes creatives just need something fun to work on, and being a big fan of Laura’s work, I sent my photo over faster than you can say collage! As expected, I love what she did with my face: Blue hair… what do...

I love living in a digital age – I can’t imagine what the world would be like without the internet or Photoshop!? But sometimes it’s nice to step away from our keyboards, go back to basics and keep things simple; collage. It’s so therapeutic to spend an afternoon getting creative with some scissors, a magazine and your imagination. Ok, so I don’t think collaging is really considered to be ‘cool’, but that doesn’t stop me! It’s...

There’s nothing quite like flicking through a fashion magazine on a Sunday morning; Instagrammable fashion, Pinterest worthy scenery and the feeling of paper between your fingers. But there’s more to those glossy fashion magazine pages than meets the eye: Photo shoots costing thousands of pounds, hours in planning and production, and then there’s the retouching afterwards too! What do you do with magazines after you’ve read them? Do they just collect dust in your room?...

It’s Friday again, and you know what that means – Triangle Friday and a good dose of lovely triangle design! This week I am in love with the editorial work of Erin Jang. She’s a freelance designer & illustrator from New York and has worked with clients including GQ and Urban Outfitters. Erin produced some creative spreads as senior art director at Martha Stewart Living magazine but it’s her Esquire magazine contents pages which really caught my...

As the second part of our Visual Art Award (follow up to Printmaking) we have been set a multidisciplinary project. This means that we can choose to use a range of disciplines from the ‘art’ family: Textiles, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, 3D, Painting, Collage…. I can’t think of anymore? haha The theme is Leisure which means, that like last time, it could be anything: Travelling, Cooking, Gardening, Collecting…. you name it, someone in the world...

Back in September 2009 I was just starting a typographic CD project. At the time I was looking for fashion illustration imagery showing use of ink and watercolour, and I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for… doesn’t it always happen like that? You see a lot of something and then when you need it you can’t find it? Well anyway, I really like the fashion illustration style so often search behance, flickr and...

Have you ever heard of the saying ‘A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes’? My current total of shoes is at about… 30 – including boots ( I just counted and I am actually quite shocked now!!!!) So I prove my point that girls just love shoes. Well I love shoes (more than I thought) SO much that a couple of months ago I started cutting out pictures of shoes from magazines....

I read The Times newspaper at work… and came across this front page of The Times2 (alternative pull out section of music, fashion and art etc). I really love the composition. The original front cover had a heading bit written on the catwalk but I used the trusty scalpal to cut it out and have glued a white background to it, making the catwalk stand out as brilliant white 🙂 I’m not sure what exactly...
