After a trip to Hogwarts in the Snow last Christmas, I’ve wanted to see more and more of the Graphic Design from the Harry Potter Films. So when Jess told me about a new exhibition at the Coningsby Gallery, I was pretty excited: The Graphic Art of Harry Potter (ending 19th December 2015). Watch Vlogmas Day 3 for a video tour of the exhibition 🙂 From packaging and posters, to books and magazines – the gallery...

With everyone focused on Christmas presents, I thought it was about time the stocking got some attention. I loved waking up and finding a stocking at the end of my bed when I was younger – a sign that Santa had been! Stocking fillers might be small, but that doesn’t make them any less important. And what better way to fill a stocking, then with some fun personalised things from Snapfish? So how did I...

Hands up if you’ve not even thought about buying Christmas presents yet…? No, I haven’t started either! However with the 25th edging closer, I thought I’d post a few suggestions for what to buy the creative in your life this Christmas. Maybe it’s for a creative friend, loved one or yourself – they/you deserve it! 😉 Christmas Gift Ideas for Creatives Looking for something they can get creative with but don’t want to insult them by...

The other weekend I visited the London Transport Museum with Jack and Bobbins. I haven’t seen Bobbins for almost a year now (wow!), so it was really nice to catch up and geek out at the posters, typography and signs. (P.S. I am making a vlog, but it’s not quite ready yet so I’ll insert that here when it’s finished!) Considering I’ve lived in London for almost 2 years now, I’m surprised that I haven’t been...

It feels so long ago now, but the other week I spent 2 days at Offset London ‘festival’. Offset usually takes place in Ireland, and after hearing that it would basically be on my doorstep in London I was determined to get my hands on a ticket. Having already decided that I was going to hand my notice in at this point, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to afford the £200 ticket price...

Last week I was so thrilled to be invited to the Bloggers event at Paperchase. It’s no secret that I’m a massive fan of everything creative/stationery, so I was really excited to get a sneak peek of the new collections. Walking into the room full of new products, I was happy to see some familiar faces (Uli of Found Some Paper) and some new ones (Tessa from All Things Stationery). The Paperchase design team were...

After reading about it for a couple of weeks now, at the weekend Lucy, Jack, Nadia & I decided that it was time to book in a visit to the British Museum of Food. A pop-up by experimental creatives Bompas & Parr, the BMoF is currently housed on a corner of Borough Market alongside the duo’s other project of the moment; Alcoholic Architecture. With no idea what to expect, we entered the museum with open...

What better way to start the weekend than by sharing some lovely print? A couple of weeks ago it was the launch of the Baddeley Brothers’ book at St Bride Library. Unfortunately I was ill so I couldn’t make it (and I was gutted because I would have been able to interview David Pearson!), however the Baddeley Brothers kindly sent me a copy of the book so I could still enjoy it from my sick...

At the weekend Jess & I popped down to Brick Lane to see the Eric Gill x Monotype exhibition. A tribute to Gill’s typography, the exhibition explores the creation, development and refinement of his fonts. ‘Letters are things not pictures of things’ – Gill’s take on typography. You’ll know his most famous font, Gill Sans, but in this exhibition Monotype share 3 new editions; Gill Sans Nova, Joanna Sans Nova and Joanna Nova. Monotype describe these...

As a Boxing Day baby I’m not the biggest fan of Christmas and I usually avoid any mention of it until there’s a D in the month. However when Oliver Bonas invited me to their Christmas in July press day I found it hard to say no! I know, I know, it’s WAY too early to be thinking about the C-word in July, but someones gotta do it I guess, or there wouldn’t be lovely things...

The other week I was invited to see the latest exhibition at The Royal Academy, Ai Weiwei. Known for being outspoken, his pieces respond to China’s suppression of human rights and freedom of speech. Before experiencing the work, I heard about the experiences which helped to shape it and was absolutely fascinated. Up-to speed with Ai Weiwei’s story, I was now ready to see the art. Accompanied by my fellow bloggers (Uli, June, Leanne and Emma), we headed into the...

A couple of weeks back I went to one of the Nicer Tuesdays talks with Jo and Natalie from the studio. Hosted by It’s Nice That at the Protein gallery space, each talk has a different theme, with this one focusing on ‘failure’. I hadn’t originally planned to blog this talk, but decided to post about it in the end as I think it’s a really important topic and it was a brilliant talk. As...

Every September London hosts London Design Festival – just over a week of design focused talks, exhibitions and shows. I’ve been really busy for the past couple of weeks, with something booked in for every evening which meant that I hadn’t had the chance to see any of LDF15. Last weekend I set myself a challenge; try to see (most of) LDF in a day. I also decided to post my adventure to my Snapchat story too, although...

http://graphiquefantastique.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Geo-Fleur-Terrarium-Workshop.jpg

For months I have been admiring mini plants encased in geometric metal and glass cages on Pinterest. Call me hipster if you like, but terrariums are the perfect plant option for me living in London. The plants are easy to look after, compact and SO CUTE. What’s not to love? A couple of weeks ago the girls at work booked a terrarium workshop and had been looking forward to it ever since. It’s crazy to think that...

Last Thursday the Islington Oliver Bonas store opened its doors a bit later for a behind the scenes talk as part of London Design Festival 2015. Jo & I were welcomed by the lovely OB team with a glass of bubbly and a bit of time for browsing before the talk. Work Hard, Play Hard & Be Kind – The OB motto The first Oliver Bonas store was opened in Fulham in 1993 – Olly travelled...
