Last week I posted 21 creative bloggers you need to follow which proved to be very popular, so this week I thought I’d share some of my favourite creative Youtubers. For ages I was clueless about Youtube. At Uni I remember my friend Emma being really into Youtube, but I just didn’t get it – I thought it was just cat videos, people doing silly stunts and beauty bloggers. I can’t remember what changed my mind, but last year...

It’s been a while in the making, but it’s finally here! So I’m not a full time Graphic Designer at the moment, but in March 2015 I decided that I wanted to make a video about working in a design studio. Why did I make this video? Well mainly because when you’re a graduate you don’t know what to expect, so I thought I’d show you what it could be like. (Although, admittedly I definitely...

I posted my Christmas Gift Ideas for Creatives last week, filled with lots of gifts for creatives to do, make and be inspired by. But what I’m learning (since being a lady of ‘leisure’ for two weeks) is that sometimes having a quiet moment to yourself is just as important as keeping busy. Time to think, ponder, explore thoughts and ideas… AND science backs up why some of our best ideas come in the shower. So if that’s not...

It feels so long ago now, but the other week I spent 2 days at Offset London ‘festival’. Offset usually takes place in Ireland, and after hearing that it would basically be on my doorstep in London I was determined to get my hands on a ticket. Having already decided that I was going to hand my notice in at this point, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to afford the £200 ticket price...

The other week I was invited to see the latest exhibition at The Royal Academy, Ai Weiwei. Known for being outspoken, his pieces respond to China’s suppression of human rights and freedom of speech. Before experiencing the work, I heard about the experiences which helped to shape it and was absolutely fascinated. Up-to speed with Ai Weiwei’s story, I was now ready to see the art. Accompanied by my fellow bloggers (Uli, June, Leanne and Emma), we headed into the...

http://graphiquefantastique.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/NicerTuesdaysFailure.jpg

A couple of weeks back I went to one of the Nicer Tuesdays talks with Jo and Natalie from the studio. Hosted by It’s Nice That at the Protein gallery space, each talk has a different theme, with this one focusing on ‘failure’. I hadn’t originally planned to blog this talk, but decided to post about it in the end as I think it’s a really important topic and it was a brilliant talk. As...

http://graphiquefantastique.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/StationeryWishList2015.jpg

Waving goodbye to Summer and welcoming Autumn, there’s lots of  ‘back to school’/’back to Uni’ talk. Now, I know I’m a bit past all of that now I’ve graduated BUT any excuse to look at nice stationery things, right? So here’s a few things I would be popping in my basket… 1. Paperchase Polka dot notebook | 2. HAY storage boxes | 3. Present & Correct mini clipboard | 4. HAY Striped Feather Pen | 5. HAY...

Every September London hosts London Design Festival – just over a week of design focused talks, exhibitions and shows. I’ve been really busy for the past couple of weeks, with something booked in for every evening which meant that I hadn’t had the chance to see any of LDF15. Last weekend I set myself a challenge; try to see (most of) LDF in a day. I also decided to post my adventure to my Snapchat story too, although...

http://graphiquefantastique.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/TheLittleBookOfTypographicOrnament.jpg

The Little Book of Typographic Ornament is exactly what it says: a small book crammed with decorations for use with typography. Whether that be a pattern, flourish, illustration or border, this book has it all. Arranged into sections, the little book displays over 200 pages of ornaments, and a splash of colour adds some hierarchy to draw the eye. It’s hard to choose a favourite, but I love these decorative banners reading ‘bought of’ – it makes...

http://graphiquefantastique.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/The100DayProjectLondonMeetUp.jpg

You might remember that last month I announced that I was co-hosting the #The100DayProjectLondon meet up (and the story of how that came about)? Well Wednesday evening it was time to get my host-on and meet complete strangers brought together by an internet project. I was greeted by our lovely host, Andrea – an American designer, and welcomed in to her flat (we took a raincheck from the park) for an evening of celebration. I made...

http://graphiquefantastique.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/CuriosityKilledTheCat.jpg

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you read ‘curiosity’? Curiosity killed the cat – Why does curiosity get such a bad name for itself? To me it’s a child-like quality; a thirst for learning, exploring and discovering. It’s pure, powerful and full of potential/possibilities. I have always been curious – looking to learn, showing an interest in just about anything and everything. Maybe it’s because I’m an eldest child – we’re supposed to...

It’s never good to start with an apology, but as I’m polite: Sorry. My posting schedule has been a bit all over the place recently and I’m currently experiencing a bit of what we’ll call ‘bloggers block’ – it happens to the best of us! Send inspiration and positive thoughts my way 🙂 I’m just having such a busy time at the moment, but I’ll be back on track soon don’t worry! And anyway, there’s...

http://graphiquefantastique.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/GlugLDNxHouseofVans.jpg

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to bag some tickets to the glug LDN x House of Vans event. Glug run a series of talks/creatives events around the world, but I’d not been to a glug event… until now. After hearing good things I was excited, PLUS this time tickets were free so everyone was keen to get their hands on them. Last Thursday it was glug time! Jess(who has just travelled down...

http://graphiquefantastique.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/12ParadoxesOfGraphicDesign.jpg

A couple of weeks back (yeah, I’m a little behind with my schedule sorry!) I found myself at Pearlfisher studio for the 233 Miles Design Festival. Organised by a group of Graphic Design soon-to-be grads from Plymouth University, the festival brought their degree show to London whilst hosting a series of free lunch time talks from Adrian Shaughnessy, Michael Johnson (Johnson Banks) and Alan Kitching. I already had the 8th July booked off, so I signed up for...

http://graphiquefantastique.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/the100dayproject_week15.jpg

Week 15! THE END! I honestly didn’t know if I was going to make it this far when I started #The100DayProject back in April. I’ve never stuck to anything like this before, but actually in the end it was just a part of my daily routine and no hassle to post (well, other than the pressure). The pressure was really on this week as it was the end of the project – I really wanted...
