This is only my fourth post this month, sorry! I keep planning to sit down and blog but at the moment there’s always something else to distract me! But anyway… Remember me saying that I was going to be on the design team of the University Student Magazine? Well the first issue is out! Sam, Bobbins, Dani, Lucy(hiding) and Helen checking out Issue #1 of Bullet ’11! Yesterday was the Freshers Fayre, so I picked...

… or there will be, come September for the Fresher’s issue! You are looking at a member of the new 2011/2012ย Bullet Magazine design team. Along with some other creatives I know (Sam Dowse, Dave Morris, Jake Townsend and Claire Kearns), I will be helping to design the University of Lincoln’s student magazine ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m looking forward to making reading look pretty ๐Ÿ™‚

Warning: This is going to be a long post with a lot of amazing Graphic Design – get a coffee, sit comfortably and be inspired! Studio 8 came to visit us Lincoln Students on Wednesday! It was held in ‘our’ Faculty building(Art, Architecture & Design), but I think I’ve only been in there once on an open day so it was a new experience! What a maze! Anyway, back to the important part… Studio 8...

I think it’s easier to look at design when you can’t understand the content and this work by Patricio Murphy is the perfect example. I’m not distracted by the text; all I can see is the modern, dynamic layout and imagery. I don’t understand Argentinian, so luckily ย it says a bit about the project on Patricio’s Behance – below is a programme for Glow festival… The layout has so many interesting components, with the tables...

After talking to Tim last week, I decided that I wanted to reshoot my images. I wanted something that I could find a lot of, could shoot in the same style and that was different to what everyone else was doing. I came up with 2 ideas: Road surface text and Yellow signs. I decided to take Aled out on our weekly Cafe Nero sketching trip Tuesday and go with both ideas, which I could...

I mentioned a couple of posts ago that one of the next projects would involve city typology photography. I ventured out into Lincoln, photographing every piece of signage/typographic anything and everything. 100 odd photos later and I had a good mix of typographic examples – road signs, street names, bins, road markings, instructions, logos. I have uploaded most of them to my student flickr if you fancy a peek? So we had to choose our...

I just remembered, I haven’t blogged about my Magazine Design project…. at all! Oh dear! This project was handed in before half term (nearly 3 weeks ago) but I somehow managed to forget about it! Anyway, Magazine Design – harder than you think. We had to learn how to use InDesign – not too hard but just weird because its completely different to Illustrator and Photoshop! Magazine layouts actually have a lot more to them...
