Wow! I’ve been at gpstudio for 5 months now! That’s nearly half a year – doesn’t time fly? Friday 4th July 2014 gpstudio will be celebrating it’s 10th birthday, and to mark the occasion we decided to fill our big arch window with an amazing window display. I thought I’d share some behind the scenes snaps from this morning’s installation: Chris and Jo attaching a camera to a lamp post so we can capture the window build –...

It’s no secret that Selfridges has some of the best and most photographed window displays in the world. As a creative I am always inspired by them, but when I read about Selfridges Festival of Imagination I was SO excited! ‘Imagination’ is mostly associated with being a child, having crazy ideas and being a dreamer, however for some grown ups it’s very important to continue exercising their imagination skills: creatives! Without imagination, the world would be a...

What’s in the window? Me! Well I’m not anymore, but I was in the window today creating a display for the auction. The Auction 13 team have been given permission to use TPH’s window to display our lovely postcards, so we set to work:            We’ve displayed the postcards that we’ve received so far on a bookcase. To create some suspense and excitement, we’ve  created a guessing game by placing tags...

Happy Triangle Friday! Today I’m in London at St Brides for the ‘Letterpress: Something to say’ talks, so I scheduled this post – can’t miss Tri Fri, can we? I was walking through Waterside shopping centre when I noticed that one of the window displays was in the middle of being changed… … to a cosmic, fluoro pink triangle theme. Topshop always has a great image, but when there are triangles involved it’s even better! At...

So I ventured out into the cold, dark night to take some photos of the new Graphic Design window display at TPH: It looks great doesn’t it? Everything within the display was created yesterday in  2 hours at the Day of the dead themed All Year Day. Such a range of skulls were produced; from collaged skulls… … typographic skulls… … moustached skulls… … floral skulls… … and fruity skulls!   The light box was...

So yesterday was Halloween and Lincoln GD were celebrating in the way we know best: being creative. We did an inter-year design challenge around the end of last year and it was a good opportunity to meet some people from other years and just a great laugh. With it falling on Halloween & the 3rd years having been working on some skulls in mentoring, it made sense that we continued with the Day of the dead...

It’s the last year that BA (Hons) Graphic Design (and a few other creative courses) will be housed in Thomas Parker House as by September 2013 there will be a brand new building on campus for the new and continuing students. TPH (as we call it) used to be a Co-Op department store and I’ve heard some lovely little stories about how an elderly lady used to still try and get in to buy her...
