On Tuesday I headed to YCN in Shoreditch for a talk about Brand Collaborations. As a student the YCN shop used to be a ‘must’ when I came to visit London, but I don’t think I’ve visited since I have lived here – this post in July 2013 with Emma & Sara was probably the last time! YCN, short for You Can Now (although it used to be Young Creative Network), is a creative organisation helping young...

I can’t believe that it’s May already – this time last year I was pulling my hair out in the run up to my Degree exhibition. It’s amazing and very scary just how fast my first year as a graduate (although I technically didn’t graduate until September) has passed and as you will have read, it’s not been rainbows and unicorns like I had imagined! Today students gathered for the first talk of the Chitter-Chatter series. Zoë from YCN came to talk to us Lincoln creatives – a great way to start off the series! Fundraising is well under way in the Lincoln GD studios at the moment, and now news of my favourite event is here: The talks team (aka Chitter-Chatter: Sam, James and Talveer) have booked YCN to kick off the talks series on Weds 13th Feb. I love the talks series as they offer an opportunity to hear about what it’s really like to be in the industry. The speakers show and explain their work and always have...

After spending a good 10 weeks on a YCN brief and thinking about submitting my work, it was good timing for  Zoe from YCN to pop in to speak to us Lincoln Graphic Design students. I went to the YCN talk last year but looking back, I think quite a lot of it went over my head as I was a first year and so wasn’t thinking about the competition briefs. This time I found...

After the Airside lecture last week, I decided I definitely wanted to go to more talks and luckily  for me the third years have got quite a few more lined up! Guest speaker for today: YCN! I had heard of YCN before because of the YCN awards but I didn’t realise they actually design too, so that was a nice discovery! Today was a free lecture and we even got free samples of energy drink...
