With Christmas drawing closer, the pressure of buying that ‘perfect’ gift is on. As I mentioned, I’m not really into Christmas (although I’ve been feeling a lot more festive compared to previous years) but as a Graphic Designer one thing I do like looking at and thinking about is the detailing. The wrapping paper, ribbons, tags, cards – all the things that make boxes look pretty! So when Hobbycraft asked me if I wanted to test out one of the Kirstie Allsopp gift kits and some papers I saw the perfect opportunity to get stamp-happy:
The Stamp and Stationery kit includes a variety of stamps, an ink pad, blank cards, blank envelopes, sticky foam squares and a few gem stones (bling bling!). For me, the best thing about this kit is the stamps – really easy to use and versatile too (although one of the stamps is longer than the ink pad which makes it a bit awkward to stamp). My favourites are the 2 ornate label style stamps and I decided to use them to create my own wrapping paper pattern:
To inject a bit of festive colour I thought I would do a two-tone wrap by adding some metallic red paper to the mix. And to complete the look I stamped onto some matching brown paper tags(not included in kit):
I’m pretty happy with how these turned out – a hint of Christmas without being too over the top. I just need to add names (I didn’t want to spoil the surprise incase the gift recipients are reading!) and they’ll be ready to sit under a tree or two. What do you think? Is this something you’d like to have a go at?
What have you got planned for your gift wrapping? I’m still a way off completing my Christmas shopping so I’ll be keeping an eye on instagram for more wrapping inspiration 🙂
As for the rest of the kit and papers – I’ll be using those to create my thank you cards in the New Year. It’s a handy little kit and with 25% off at the moment it will make a great gift for the craft-y lady in your life this Christmas. But if stamps aren’t your thing there are also kits for candles, bath bombs, aprons and purses.
I’m slowly getting into the festivities…
- This post is in collaboration with Hobbycraft to promote the Kirstie Allsopp craft kit range. I was gifted the Stamp and Stationery kit but my opinion is 100% my own*

Oooh I really like those! They look super classy! I’d thought about doing my own wrap this year but I think this will be something that is nice in practice but in reality I’m really crap at hahaha. Might just raid Paperchase instead!
