Stamping the Alphabet

For my Birthday back in December, Sara bought me these cool alphabet stamps and golden ink, and yes, I’ve only just got around to using them. I figured that the perfect way to show them off to you guys was by placing them within my beautiful Kaleido HAY trays, which Jack surprised me with on my Birthday – ALL OF THE BIRTHDAY GIFTS! (Beady eyes will also notice the amazing copper wire N from Oliver Bonas which was also a gift – I’m a lucky girl!)

I love a letter as much as the next creative, so I was excited to get stuck in and get my hands dirty for a change. Don’t get me wrong, being a Graphic Designer is cool, but sitting in front of a screen for 8+ hours a day isn’t ideal. It definitely helps me appreciate the hand made/hand drawn/hand printed/hand stamped things in life!

This set from Paperchase (although currently available via ASOS) is so cute. Each letter is about 2cm tall so they’re pretty diddy and cute. There are about 10 different fonts used to create an alphabet with a quirky personality:

Sara bought me gold ink which is great to add some sparkle/a touch of luxury, but you can get ink pads in a variety of colours – most commonly black and red, but white too.

I couldn’t resist stamping some gold onto this amazing fluoro orange with sparkles envelope (Gmund Action Electric Blood from GF Smith) – it really pops and it matched my HAY tray a treat too!

Do you have a little kit of stamps? What would you create with this set? I think they’re a simple but fun way to experiment with type, and great for home made cards, gift tags or even wrapping paper!
