With one of my aims for 2016 being to make creative content for Youtube, I thought I would start with a little creative process video. Jaye asked me to create a logo for Living with less; a new email series she is starting, so I got busy sketching.
Watch my Youtube tutorial of the behind the scenes process:
It’s quite a quick & simple process; sketch ideas, practice the typography, scan it in, use Photoshop to bring it all together.
I find the Tombow brush pen is really easy to use – very fluid. I need to work on my thick and thin stroke technique, but I know this is something that will improve with time and practice.
I took a little sketchbook on the bus with me and started to develop a few ideas. Usually I just stare out of the window or get annoyed by someone fidgeting or basically shouting into their phone, so I enjoyed having something to distract me and use my travelling time productively… even if East London isn’t the smoothest of bus rides!
After I was happy with the letterforms and had decided I’d ‘practiced’ enough I moved onto digitalising the typography, refining the curves and contrast. Finally I tweaked the compositions and added some finer detailing to complete my options.
Jaye seemed to be pleased with the options that I sent over to her and has chosen to use what I think is my favourite, so win-win!
Do you like the marque/logo? I’m keen to do more creative process videos, but what do you guys want to see more of? Is your creative process similar to mine? I’d love to hear about it so let me know…

This is so interesting! I’m always so keen to know how the creative process work as I’m so not arty myself! x
