You wouldn’t expect to find a staircase in a shipping container, but in East London anything can happen. When Print Club London invited me to a preview of the Blisters 2017 prints I knew it was going to be good, but stepping down into this amazing warehouse style room (yes it was underground) I was in awe – of both the room AND the prints, of course.
If you’re not familiar with Blisters then listen up – 50 prints by 50 artists for £50. It’s pretty simple, hey? I can still remember my first Blisters experience at the opening night back in 2014 – a buzzing atmosphere, great gin cocktails and an amazing array of prints! The big night is THIS FRIDAY – Friday 27th October (6-10PM) and to be in with a chance of getting your hands on any of the prints you’ll need to RSVP here.
For 2017, the theme is Paperback Books and I couldn’t wait to get a sneak peek at some of the prints! Oh look, is that EJP I spy snapping away?
The first 10 to be revealed are:
- Jungle Book by Lucille Clerc
- Peter Pan by Ornimental Conifer
- The Human by Naomi Edmonson
- Wizard of Oz by Cassandra Yap
- Norweigan Wood by Miranda Sofroniou
- Bonjour Tristesse by Lucille Moore
- Night at the Circus by Rosie Emerson
- Alice in Wonderland by Oli Fowler
- The Big Sleep by Aleesha Nandhra
- Mr Tickle by Davey Podmore
Which is your fave? No, but really because the guys at PCL kindly let us choose our top 3 prints for a print lottery of sorts where we would receive one as a surprise delivery. EEEK! Keep reading to find out which one was delivered to me…
Anyway, back to the business in hand – printing!
We had a mini introduction/refresher to screen printing and then got our hands messy:
I thought it was such a cute and different idea to have us monogram pillowcases – I think I might tie dye mine at some point. I’ve been keen to try some fabric printing for a while now so it was good to have a little go.
After cleaning our screens, we were whisked off to the Artists Residence for an amazing meal – gnocchi, tuna, salmon, beef… you name it, I ate it.
I did a bit of filming through out the evening, so if you fancy ‘coming along’ for the ride then check out my vlog:
When I got home I delved into the goody bag and discovered some lovely things including 2 pin badges (I was SO excited by the ‘I’ve pulled’ one!), some Sipsmith gin, a personalised book and our monogrammed pillowcases.
A few days later I had a knock at the door, and a rather large delivery: my surprise print! If you’ve watched my vlog then you will already know my response… SO MUCH EXCITEMENT!
* DRUM ROLL *
I was literally SO HAPPY to open the box and find Cassandra Yap’s Wizard of Oz print – I sat on the floor looking at it for about 20 minutes. JUST LOOK AT IT. So simple but yet so detailed.
I love her modern day twist on a classic, with the tattoos and of course, the GLITTER. I’m a magpie when it comes to anything shiny or glittery – I think it comes from my ‘more is more’ motto?
Whilst it stands alone on our radiator at the moment, the plan is to create a gallery wall with these ruby slippers as the centre piece. We’ve lived in our flat for almost two years now but not a single piece of artwork has made it onto the walls yet! I’m pretty keen to change this and of course, I’ll keep you updated – I’m thinking that I’ll do a post on the planning & process if that’s something you guys would be interested in?
Also just a quick note on the cushions; who said comfy couldn’t be colourful?! The lips cushion proved popular in my Instagram story. A few new additions were kindly sent to me by the Etsy UK team to celebrate the colder nights drawing in and, of course, the talented sellers: Natalie Lea Owen and Laura Slater.
In all honesty, I was supposed to give 1 of the 2 sets to a friend but I don’t know if I can part with them… ooops!
Thanks so much to the guys at PCL and the Artists Residence for looking after us – it was such a lovely evening and I couldn’t be happier with my print! Can’t wait to see the full 50 prints this Friday – see you there? There’s still time to rsvp if you fancy it…

Anything colourful, shiny or sparkly and I’m there – a total magpie ha Think there are still a few prints available to buy online actually… head over to the Print Club website & see if any take your fancy? 🙂 x
