And to all the freelancers out there - Happy new tax year 🥳 It’s so crazy to think that I’ve been freelance since 2016!! A little tip/reminder: don’t leave your 2021/22 tax return until January 2023. Do it this month, with everything fresh in your mind and you’ll feel SO good knowing you already ate that frog 💰🗂👍 Hands up if you know that feeling…?

An unexpected outcome of the nursery juggle: I really look forward to picking Dylan up at the end of the day. (As long as it’s not raining - it’s a 25 min walk) 🥰 So lovely to see his little face, hear about his day & his new favourite phrase E.g ‘My eyelashes smell like burger pancakes’. 😂😂😂

The reality? Most of the time he just wants to eat a banana and tell me I’m going the wrong way home 🤷🏻‍♀️🍌🤦🏻‍♀️ He’s almost 3 going on 13!

This year I’ve REALLY struggled with SAD (seasonal affective disorder) - the worst in my life so far. I lost my creative juices for MONTHS, which was so disorientating because you guys know that I’m powered by finding joy, the buzz of creativity and ideas. It’s who I am and so without it, I just didn’t feel ‘me’ 🤯😩😢 I still don’t really - I’ve never experienced anything like it before! 💔

I’ve tried to give myself a break because let’s face it, it’s been a weird time with the pavlova, motherhood, and some big changes (moving across the country and freelance stuff). I’ve been quiet here - I just had nothing to say & that’s a really scary feeling for me… you know I love to talk 🤪😩🤯

I know it’s SO cliche but honestly, the sunshine this past week has really given me a glimmer of hope. Bring on spring & summer - send me ALLLLLL of the sunshine please ☀️☀️☀️

🖼 Picture This 🖼 The gallery wall is a go! 🥳 6 months living at the new place & we decided it was time to hang some of the 58 frames (yep, FIFTY EIGHT - I just counted them all 🤯) we currently own! 😅💪

When you have that much artwork, it’s hard to know where to start! I laid them all out on the floor to look at the big picture 😉 What’s your method?

Some are up, hooray!! 🥳 But if you saw my stories you’ll know that some came back down again… ooops! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Still, it makes SUCH a difference having things on the walls (and that fresh white paint helps too 😜)

Makes me want to buy more art though… do we need it? 🤔 (that’s a trick question btw!)

🤍 Blank canvas 🤍 WE MOVED… in September 2021 😂😅 I briefly mentioned it but I’ve been MIA since for a number of reasons - more on that in time. But hi again 🙋🏻‍♀️ I think I’m ready to come back.

It took us 9 months to find the right place (that would accept children!! Remember that? 🤦🏻‍♀️) so we could move from Essex to Cambridgeshire and be closer to family 🏡🤯🏡 Renting, eh?

Welcome to our new place, complete with lots of rental faux pas… magnolia woodchip walls, a kitchen with no space to chop an onion and bodge job repairs everywhere you look 🤦🏻‍♀️😩😅 BUT it’s not all bad because there’s lots of potential too… picture rails, fireplaces, more space & most exciting - permission to paint!!! 🙌🎨🥳 Let’s take this magnolia nightmare out of the 70s and into 2022! Bring a roller and a fun boiler suit 🤪

Recently I had loads of messages surprised how big Dylan is now… tbf I’ve been MIA recently. The past couple of months have felt so short and so long all at the same time! But oh yes, he’s almost half my height and 2.5 going on 25 😂🤦🏻‍♀️🤪

These days he loves a chat, a sing song (regularly requests Status Quo at the Library Rhymetime 😅) and is very headstrong ( He insists that ‘F is for Dylan’ 🤣) especially when it comes to snacks and choosing his outfit 😂🌈✨

Very pleased that he has inherited my love for colour, although it’s a bit of a struggle to get him to take his coat off at the mo… but when it’s as cool as this @patchytiger x @judyandrews jacket, can’t really blame him eh? 🐅🌈✨ (Just need about 5 layers underneath and mittens on string 🤪)

🛻🎄 Driving home for Christmas 🎄🛻 What’s the point of having children if you can’t create mini scenes using their toys though? 🤔😂🙌 A tiny figaro (in tribute to that iconic image by @me_and_orla from a few years ago) would no doubt be more ‘Instagram’ BUT would definitely hurt more when I inevitably step on it because Dylan ‘parked’ it in the middle of the room 👍🤦🏻‍♀️🤪 BTW who knew that if you recreated this IRL with a Christmas Tree bigger than your car, you could get 3 points & a fine!? Google did! 😅 P.S what do you think to our ‘new’ fireplace….?
